Music of a Fallen Wonderland

http://www.classicalconnect.com/music/2162

I chose 3 Songs Without Words by Paul Ben-Haim because the minor key and tone of the music reminds me of the fallen state that wonderland is left in after it is invaded and ultimately taken over by Redd and her followers in my book The Looking Glass Wars. While wonderland used to be a happy, cheerful, colour filled place, with crystal shaped buildings and happy citizens. When Redd killed the queen and took over the throne, she forced everything to become like this, calling anything reminiscent of the old queens kingdom "Illegal and punishable by death". While this is happening in wonderland, Alyss (now known on earth as Alice Liddell), was adopted by the Liddell family and living with them.

After a long time, Alice met with the prince of England, and he eventually fell in love with her and proposed. Alice didn't feel the same way, but accepted anyway because she thought her mother would like it. Meanwhile, Hatter Madigan, the man in charge of Alyss' safe return to wonderland, found his way to england where Alyss was living. But was shot by a guardreturned to Wonderland through a puddle before he had a chance to rescue Alyss. When hatter returned to Wonderland, He found it dark and disgusting, very much unlike he had left the city more than 13 years ago. The music I chose also reminds me of the feelings hatter must have felt returning to his home and finding it in tatters.
